Soil Capital

Presentation

Farming practices need to change, and these changes can benefit the farmers. This is the driving force behind Soil Capital. The startup wants to remove the barriers to transitions in the agricultural sector with a business model that produces healthy and abundant food while benefiting the farmer. Soil Capital's ambition is to support farmers in the transition of one million hectares to more profitable and regenerative agriculture by 2025. Solution Soil Capital aims to develop regenerative agriculture on a large scale to tackle climate change by incentivising farmers in the field for their commitment to the transition, via a certified carbon payment program. Leveraging its extensive field experience in transitioning farms to regenerative agriculture, Soil Capital has developed a solution to help farmers calculate, improve and certify improvements in greenhouse gas emissions and soil carbon. Soil Capital uses the ISO 14064 standard which provides a greenhouse gas accounting and verification framework for organizations seeking to verify improvements in their scope 3 emissions from agriculture. Key advantages Broadacre farmers are paid for the service to the climate, which helps remove a barrier on the transition from traditional to more virtuous agricultural practices, with no binding commitment, dynamic prices, and no prescribed practices. For corporates seeking to deliver on scope 3 commitments, Soil Capital offers a proven and verified solution to work with existing farmer-suppliers in their transition to regenerative agriculture.
