Baker Consultants
Presentation
Baker Consultants was set up in 2008 to provide scientifically robust, and pragmatic ecological advice to its clients. The company employs 14 ecologists; specialists in botany, ornithology, invertebrate ecology, and mammals, and experts in nature conservation law and bioacoustics. Many of the team are acknowledged national experts in their field.
Solution
The use of bioacoustics has always been a key methodology at Baker Consultants and has recently become a distinct service offering. Recording and analysing sounds, of mammals, birds, invertebrates and the sounds of organisms in the soil, can provide vital information for the monitoring of the abundance and health of species and habitats. Baker Consultants provides services that are based on robust science and an understanding of clients’ commercial needs. Any losses of biodiversity that may arise from any development project are fully mitigated or compensated for, to the satisfaction of regulators.
Key advantages
Sound science is at the heart of Baker Consultants’ service, delivering advice that is robust and defendable. Its bioacoustics work is world-leading, and they provide new, cost-effective ways of monitoring the environment and demonstrating how the natural world responds to changes in land management. These methods cut down on surveyor hours and surveyor bias ensuring management plans are effective and monitored.
